Van Loveren

Van Loveren is one of the Cape’s most successful family-owned and operated winemaking ventures. Established in 1937 and named after a family forebear the estate has in excess of 1,000 acres of vineyard in the limestone rich Robertson valley. The Retief family is renowned for making appealing wines across the price and quality spectrum. The estate is a consistent award winner at South Africa's premier wine shows.

Van Loveren is an industry leader in Black Economic Empowerment with one of the estates under their management being 52% owned by a workers’ and pensioners’ trust. The estate holds a long-term grape supply contract with Van Loveren Private Cellar and has operated profitably since its’ first year of operation. This arrangement contributed to Van Loveren being named top achiever in a national agriculture competition for Black Economic Empowerment endeavors.

Under the expert leadership of Phillip Retief, the Retief family and Van Loveren enjoy a place as one of South Africa’s best loved wine producers and garners the respect of all who have the opportunity to work with them.

 

Van Loveren Christina van Loveren Methode Cap Classique "Champagne"
 


A blend of 86% Chardonnay and 14% Pinot Noir, this traditional method champenoise wine shows a classic light bead. On the nose the wine leads with subtle light toast and citrus notes. On the palate it is lithe and refreshing.

The wine is an ideal aperitif and pairs well with shellfish, salads and fruit based dishes.

The wine is ready to be enjoyed now but will develop complexity in the next two to three years.

Van Loveren Neils Pick Colombar
 

Pronounced tropical fruit notes take the lead on the nose. On the palate the wine is brisk and refreshing with tropical notes replicated. A subtle hint of sweetness leads to the lengthy finish.

The wine will pair well with Asian foods, seafood, chicken and cream based pasta dishes.

Ready to drink now, but could age for another year or two.

Es La Vida – Blanca
 

Es La Vida means “This is Life!”.

Litchi, tropical fruit and spice notes lead on the nose. On the palate the wine is fruity and crisp; off-dry with a light sparkle.

The wine is ideal as an aperitif and will complement salads, seafood dishes and curries.
