Renaissance Vineyard and Winery is located in the small Sierra Foothills town of Oregon House. It is definitely off the beaten path. As you wind your way down a narrow, country road, your first thought is "I must be lost." The road curves left and suddenly there it is: a breathtaking panorama of steep, terraced vineyards.
The 365-acre Renaissance Vineyard is located in the Sierra Nevada foothills at altitudes of 1700-2300 feet. The terraced amphitheatre-like slope faces mostly southwest, south, and west. This is a real mountain vineyard: the vines are planted on slopes with gradations that vary drastically from gentle to breathtaking. As the wines are all Estate Bottled, it is the vineyard that defines their basic quality and character.
The Renaissance Vineyard combines two traits, which are usually considered mutually exclusive. The multiple microclimates and soil variations allow for an astonishing range of grape varieties in a single vineyard, and pure varietal character is consistently evident throughout the Renaissance product line. Yet this unique terroir also leaves its unmistakeable signature in each of the wines. Regardless of the variety, all tend to be concentrated, intensely flavored, with pure fruit aromas, a tell-tale spicy/minerally side, and a powerful structure. Consequently, Renaissance wines have outstanding aging potential, and acquire complexity and harmony over the course of many years in the bottle.
Since their introduction in 1988, Renaissance wines have garnered more than 80 medals in international wine competitions, of which over 20 have been gold. We received over 50 medals in 2001 and 2002 alone in both international and national competitions.

This wine combines the airy elegance of the 2003 Viognier with the lusciousness of the 2000, this is another winner in the making. Bright, layered tropical fruit, pure essence of minerals finish. Just enough spice to keep you on your toes.
This wine is an ideal accompaniment to scallops, fish and salads.
The wine can be enjoyed now or cellared for 2 to 3 years.
This was a top flight vintage for our Syrah, producing a big, dark wine, with a huge, meaty, sweaty, deeply spicy nose with complex seaweed, violet and ripe blueberry notes. The wine is full bodied, firm and structured on the attack, opening further back on the palate to reveal stunning depth and fruit concentration, and a long, spicy/minerally finish.
The wine is an ideal accompaniment to roast venison hearty stews.
Enjoy the wine now but could develop nicely with cellaring for up to ten years.
Renaissance Cabernet Sauvignon
Deep color. Rich, ripe, fruity, spicy nose; berries, black-cherry, cedar, wet earth. Ripe, concentrated flavors, with lots of juicey cherry/flowery fruit; very easy-going for a young Renaissance cab. Long, harmonious finish. This is exceptional quality for our Estate bottling.
The wine is an ideal accompaniment to roasts, grilled beef and hearty pasta dishes.

Renaissance Cabernet Sauvignon Vin de Terrior
A unique and fascinating expression of the cabernet sauvignon varietal and a unique micro-terroir (our oldest vineyard slope, 22 years old in 97, 4 south-west facing acres at ~1800 ft.). Strong Havana nose with black cherry and plum and a glorious ruby color. This is a big, fleshy, hearty wine. It offers the same phenomenal fruit concentration as our 1995 'Vin de Terroir' in a slightly more elegant, civilized form, with rich ripe tannins softly playing in the background and the bright berry fruit displayed up-front. Astounding length and complexity. Decant a few hours before serving, or age for another three to five years. 100% Cabernet Sauvignon.
The wine is an ideal accompaniment to roasted and braised red meats and hearty pasta dishes.
